Important Alert! Wirikuta, the Wixárika's sacred pilgrimage route and the sacred peak Leunar, where they say the sun rose for the first time, are under threat of mining. This sacred and protected area of 140,291 hectars is vital to Wixárika cultural survival and the Wixárika people need your help to save this sacred desert for future generations and for all of mankind. To learn more about Wirikuta please read the document "What is Wirikuta?" and visit our page dedicated to news about the ongoing struggle to save Wirikuta for more articles, videos, and information. We ask that you please participate in the ongoing international letter writing campaign being carried out by Cultural Survival.
